"We
live in a chemical soup. They're everywhere, in everything and they're
here to stay. How many? It is estimated that since World War II
more than 80,000 synthetic chemicals have invaded our world. About
40 million tons are manufactured worldwide." |
ORGANIC
CERTIFICATIONS
Currently,
body care products are not required to comply with the stringent
organic food standards maintained by certification bodies such as
the BFA and NASAA in Australia and the USDA in America, hence the
plethora of so many "organic" body care products now on
the market.
Since
water is the primary ingredient in many cosmetics, some manufacturers
are claiming to use organic hydrosols, or floral water, to green
wash their products and make organic label claims whilst using
the same synthetic toxic ingredients that would NEVER be allowed
in organic food products. We believe this practice has the potential
to destroy the integrity of the organic name.
miessence®
is currently the only skin care product on the planet that has
submitted to, and complies with, the rigorous processing and labelling
requirements for certified organic food products.

Become an Ingredient Detective
"Have
you ever wondered what "NATURAL" actually meant when you
read it on the bottle of "natural" or "organic"
shampoo or skin care product you just bought? Or did you assume
because the words "natural" and/or "organic"
were used that it must be good for you and safe?"
"With
the exception of colour additives and a few prohibited ingredients,
a cosmetic manufacturer may, on his own responsibility, use essentially
any raw material as a cosmetic ingredient and market the product
without approval." |
The
World is Going Organic
"If
the current growth rates are maintained, it is quite conceivable
that the world's agriculture will be fundamentally organic by
2020. In order to understand how this is possible one must understand
two distinct phenomena in society: fads and trends."

What
is Organic?
Certified
Organic products are grown and processed without the use of synthetic
chemicals, fertilisers, or GMO's*(see definition below). It is
an innovative method of farming and production and is increasingly
being recognised as being on the leading edge of food and fibre
technology into the future. Organics is not just chemical free
by testing. It is about the way the product ingredients have been
grown, prepared, processed and packaged.
